IAF-Turan Working Group
27.06.2023 the first 1st zoom meeting with Wilko Vriesman, Chairman of IAF, dedicated to the establishment of the Turan Working Group (Turan Aikido Federation), which unites Turkic-speaking countries, took place. Representatives from Azerbaijan and Turkiye participated in the meeting. During the meeting, Wilko Vriesman Shihan shared the concept and plans, and they also discussed the creation of a working group to implement the idea of forming the federation. One of the next stages will be a physical meeting at a seminar in Turkiye, which will take place in Istanbul from September 30, 2023, to October 1, 2023.00:31
Official visit to Baku, Azerbaijan
Chairman of the International Aikido Federation Wilko Vriesman Shihan paid an official visit to Baku on May 16-17, 2023. Meetings with the head of state and the sports administration, which were planned during the visit, did not take place. However, there were meetings with aikido organizations in our country, and an aikido seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of our national leader Heydar Aliyev was held. During the event, a press conference was held and ended with the signing of a memorandum between the with the Niderland Aikikai Foundation and the Azerbaijan Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union. During the visit, the establishment of the Turan Aikido Federation was discussed. The official meeting with the chairman of the International Aikido Federation was remembered as a very important and historical event for the establishment of the Turan Aikido Federation for the union of Turkish Aikido organizations.
